Lightning Beetles are a special type of harvestable creature found in the wilds of New World, which players can gather for Air Motes and Lightning Beetles.
Taking the form of scarab-style beetles, these rare creatures are best found in four clusters.
Here's what you'll need and where the best areas are to find Lightning Beetles in New World.
What do you need Lightning Beetles for in New World?
Air Motes are used in a whole load of concoctions, including Mana, Encumbrance, Ward and Absorption potions, as well as coatings, tinctures, and the cutting of Topaz and Jasper gemstones. It is also a key resource in crafting the Elemental Heart, a mid-level reagent in ultimately creating Tuning Orbs and Voidbent Ingots.
The rare item Lightning Beetle is also used in high-level Arcana concoctions.
There's no tool requirements for gathering Lightning Beetles, but you'll need Harvesting Skill Lv. 175 to be able to track them.
The best locations to farm Lightning Beetles in New World
These are the clusters we think are best for power-farming Lightning Beetles.
Monarch's Bluffs
While completely spread out in the region, there's four or five Lightning Beetle nodes that are easy to reach for all players, regardless of level.
Head east from the settlement towards Antares, then swing north past Achernar.
Edengrove
There's a great cluster in the south of Edengrove, surrounding the Grasping Summit.
As a bonus, there's a fast travel point just north. the Blighted Shrine.
Ebonscale Reach
There's plenty of Lightning Beetles to be found in Ebonscale Reach, from the Traveler's Precipice shrine to the Imperial Palace.
Arm up, make sure you have plenty of potions and other healing items, and farm to your heart's content.
Reekwater
Another mid-level area, there are two clusters of Lightning Beetle in Reekwater.
The first is around the Eternal Pool in the northern half of the region, and the second in Siren's Stand and The Climb.
The Eternal Pool cluster is great for quick farming given its proximity to the settlement.
