Call of Duty: Warzone, the newest Call of Duty battle royale, has surpassed 30 million players partly due to the coronavirus outbreak.

With 30 million players dropping into the Warzone since its release on March 10th, Call of Duty's free-to-play battle royale game. 

The game has had as many downloads as Red Dead Redemption 2! 

Can Warzone Beat Other BR Games?

The growth of Warzone appears to be on the rise and it wouldn't be a surprise if the likes of Apex Legends and Fortnite see a drop in their respective player bases, as more and more players move towards Warzone. At the time of writing, Warzone has 257K viewers on Twitch while Apex has 26.3K.

Fortnite has also seen a reduction in players. With a lot of BR players put off by the building aspect of Fortnite, the intensity and more traditional gameplay has appealed to plenty of fance, hence the very high player numbers.

The Corona Effect?

The increase in players could also be down to the millions of people self-isolating due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Whether the players will continue to drop into the game once the pandemic has been controlled remains to be seen.
