Going as far back as a teaser in Tom Clancy's The Division 2, the setting for the next Assassin's Creed title has been widely rumoured to be the Viking Age.

Now, thanks to an eight-hour long reveal from BossLogic on YouTube, in which the artist gradually revealed layers of the new game's promotional art, that title was confirmed as Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

The image is split into two sections, one depicting the frozen north and another a battle scene in the foreground of a ruined castle, suggesting the game will take place in different settings. It could even signify different time periods, given the castle looks to be thirteenth-century or later, although the Assassin's Creed series has never really been known for historical accuracy. One theory is that the game could take place in Britain, which saw the Great Heathen Army attempt to conquer the isle.

You can find a timelapse of the entire process below, condensed into less than four minutes, although thousands watched the process live as it was happening.
