The Assassin's Creed license had accustomed us to a storytelling close to historical facts since its first game in 2007.
History has been emphasized even more in the last two games, Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey, for which Ubisoft has developed a Discovery Tour consisting of a series of guided tours around the maps. During these tours, real historians taught us more about the way of life of the era featured in these games.
The Assassin's Creed Valhalla YouTube channel unveiled the first episode of a series of audio documentaries on the history of the Vikings entitled Echoes of Valhalla.
In the first episode: The Sons of the Great North, we learn more about Viking culture. We discover their identity, a part of their mythology and the reasons that pushed them to leave their land to attack England.
This short 15-minute audio documentary is divided into sequences during which historians tell us about different aspects of the Viking culture. These phases of discussion are punctuated by narrative passages with actors who take us through the atmosphere of the time.
This series of mini documentaries will consist of 5 episodes:
- The Sons of the Great North.
- Dragon of the Seas, which will teach us more about Drakkars.
- Thor's Hammer, focused on various military strategies.
- Birth of an Empire, where we will find out how the Vikings established their first settlements.
- The Dawn of a New Era, recounting the battles between the Vikings and the English King Alfred of Wessex (who will be the main enemy in Assassin's Creed Valhalla).
These 5 episodes are now available on the Assassin's Creed Spotify channel and will be released, little by little, on YouTube.
