EA reveals details of Apex Legends Global Series Championship

EA has announced the details of their 2021 Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Championship, the esports' most prestigious event. From the Last Chance Qualifiers kicking off in April until the grand finals in June, the battle royale shooter is in for months of top tier action.

The ALGS Championship will have a prize pool of 1 million US dollars, to be split across the competing teams across several regions. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, each region will be confined to its own border and play the series online. The regions competing are: North America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), Asia Pacific North, Asia Pacific South, and South America.

Below is the breakdown of Championship Points team can earn during the Winter Circuit (which concludes this weekend) and the Last Chance Qualifiers.

With the announcement, EA also revealed the exact schedule for their Championship event. The Last Chance Qualifiers commence on April 23rd and end on April 25th. The competition then takes a hiatus until June 1st, when the Group Stages begin, lasting until June 6th. The Grand Finals of the EMEA region are on June 12th, whereas North America crowns a champion on June 13th.

Though not every game will be livestreamed, the official broadcast will highlight standout games from the North American and EMEA regions. They can be viewed live on Apex Legends' official Twitch channel and YouTube channel.
