It looks like the hype around Patch 5.5 that brought the Nier Automata raid and much more in Final Fantasy XIV was a little too much for the servers, as Square Enix had no choice but to disable the server visit system.
This created quite a complicated situation, as many players who had disconnected before the update (such as myself!) or visited a server before the visits were disabled, are now blocked on another server.
To avoid players losing their estates, the Automatic Housing Demolition system also has been deactivated for the duration of the visit issue.
Square Enix announced today that maintenance will be coming tomorrow, April 15, between 12am and 3am (PDT).
