The huge amount of work done on Final Fantasy VII Remake inevitably leads to comparisons with the original. We take a look at one of the most important aspects to the Final Fantasy VVI universe — the bosses.

This section may possibly contain some spoilers for those who haven't played the original.

No leaked information

This article contains only bosses that have been seen in trailers or official Square Enix screens. If you've been following news of the game, there's no risk of spoilers coming from the demo leaks.

Guard Scorpion

Encountered in the Sector 1 Reactor, the Guard Scorpion is the game's first boss, and challenges Cloud and Barret when they plant the bomb. This mechanical creature won't pose a great challenge — unless you decide to attack when its tail is up...

Air Buster

The second Shinra boss to oppose AVALANCHE, the Air Buster is weak to lightning — just like its predecessor. This boss is located in the Sector 5 Reactor.

Aps

Aps is one of Don Corneo's pets, and will attack the party in the sewers after the Wall Market episode. Aps is more visually scary than he is a threat, but watch out for its signature Tsunami attack!

Reno

A member of the Turks, Reno will get in the way of the party several times across the course of the adventure. In the original, he could create a pyramid barrier around characters, which could result in "game over" should all three party members be afflicted.

Rude

Rude has a completely different personality to his Turks comrade-in-arms. but with a behaviour totally opposite to the latter, Rude proves to be an equally tenacious opponent — he's an exceptional bare-handed fighter capable of parrying Cloud's Buster Sword.

Jenova

This is the first form of Jenova, who normally isn't encountered as a boss until the party leaves Junon on the Cargo Ship.

Script changes may mean we get to face this alien threat earlier, if rumours are anything to go by.

Hell Gunner

This Shina weapon is encountered as the party escapes the Shinra building. The main threat comes from the various status changes it can inflict, such as Poison, Sleep and Silence.

However, it is far from being unbeatable, especially when attacked with Lightning magic and with Aeris supporting.
