Animal Crossing: New Horizons — Reactions List and how to get them

Reactions are a way to show your feelings. They are used by locals and you can learn them yourself to put emotions on words you can't say. The villagers will be able to teach them to you easily!

When you talk to your islanders, you can learn some Reactions. We'll list them for you so you can see which one will be your favorite. Be careful, you will only be able to keep a few and the list is long. They are not available for purchase, you will have to meet a few conditions. Here are the first conditions to learn your first Reactions in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

How to get Reactions

This is done as the game progresses. Once you have unlocked the Nook Shop, Tom Nook will tell you that 3 inhabitants want to move to the island. You will then have to build a bridge.

From there, one of your current inhabitants will come and talk to you (you'll have to cross him), and teach you how to use Reactions. To unlock other emotes, you'll need to talk to other inhabitants during the rest of your adventure. As you walk quietly around your island, some animals will exclaim "player name!" and run towards your character. Talk to them to learn a new emote.
