The cherry-blossom petals are very useful for making spring items and enjoying a Japanese hanami in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. However, this soft and peaceful atmosphere is only possible in spring. How to get the cherry-blossom petals
The cherry-blossoms come directly from the non-fruit trees in the game. While walking on your island you can see petals flying like butterflies. Then take out your net and catch them to get them. The appearance of flower petals is a bit random, you will not be able to force the game to have more (by shaking the trees for example).
If you nevertheless wish to have flower petals for the rest of the year, nothing prevents you from keeping them in your inventory to enjoy them in winter or even changing the time of your console!
