With Patch 5.25 now available in Final Fantasy XIV the new Skysteel Tools can now be obtained. These tools, very similar to the Resistance Weapons start as prototypes and can then be upgraded.
To be able to unlock these tools you must meet specific requirements such as:
- Owning a Disciple of the Hand or Land level 80
- Complete the quest "Towards the Firmament."
- Speak with Skysteel Engineer in Foundation (X:14.2 Y:12.5)
Once the "Mislaid Plans" quest is completed you will receive a coffer which will give you a Skysteel Tool for the class you're playing at that time.
Unlike the Resistance Weapons where you need to gather thavnairian scale powder to obtain more tier 1 relics, you will be able to purchase other Skysteel Tools prototypes fort 80,000 gil Denys in the Brume (X: 8.0 Y: 10.0).
Upgrading your Skysteel Tools
By talking to Denys (the same Denys as before) you will be able to enhance your Skysteel Tools in exchange of various materials.
Upgrading Crafters Skysteel Tools
To upgrade your tools you will need a large amount of Oddly Specific materials. Those can be exchanged in big cities such as Idyllshire or Eulmore for Yellow Crafter Scrips.
Upgrading Gatherers Skysteel Tools
To upgrade your tools you will need to gather a large amount of Oddly Specific materials. You can find their location in your gathering log.
Upgrading Fisher Skysteel Tools
Fishers will have to talk to the good old Denys again to get some Signature Skyballs and then go fishing for what they need on specific nodes.
So far, two levels of upgrades are available raising the iLevel of your Skysteel Tools to 475 and should receive further upgrades in the future!
