You are finally installed on your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but you find that it is still a little too deserted?

In this guide, we will explain some steps to bring other villagers to your island so that they can be part of your daily life.

First stage

There are only 10 building plots available on your island. This means that you can only accommodate 10 villagers at a time. In order to install these famous residential lots, you can follow our walkthrough from the start of the adventure.

Now that your 10 inhabitants are properly settled, you will notice that they can move when they want. But if an inhabitant moves, then how to make so that another takes its place? Several solutions exist:

  • Wait for a villager to randomly appear, doing nothing (it can take days!)
  • Wait for a villager to come to the campsite and ask him to move in
  • Visit mystery islands and ask the villager of your choice to come to your home
  • Use Amiibos cards to bring the villagers of your choice to the campsite (beware, this requires several days because you have to bring the villager several times to convince him)
  • Visiting a friend's island where one of the inhabitants is moving away (the latter will then come to your island)

Travel to the Mystery Islands!

  1. When one of your houses is empty, you can travel to a Mystery Island to find a new villager.
  2. Go talk to him to introduce yourself.
  3. Engage in conversation several times until he says he wants to move to your island
  4. If a piece of land is for sale, he will quickly settle on your island

If, among the villager list, there is one that caught your eye, you can then buy a lot of Miles Nook tickets in order to visit several Mystery Islands until you stumble upon the neighbor of your dreams.

Set up a campsite!

  1. After having the Town Hall installed, ask Tom Nook "What should I do?"
  2. He will tell you about the K project which consists in bringing Kéké to your island
  3. Ask him again "What should I do?" and he will suggest you setting up a campsite to attract more visitors
  4. Once the campsite is set up, visitors will come regularly to visit your island
  5. Talk to them to make them want to stay on your island
