While they have been available for purchase since their announcement in 2015, it still remains hard to find Amiibo card boosters in stores.
Some brands remain completely out of stock as the reserve isn't replenished by Nintendo.
However, following the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the publisher is planning to produce all the existing Amiibo card series again. (Source)

The usefulness of Amiibo card boosters
Boosters have two uses when you scan them with the NFC reader on your Nintendo Switch:
- Summon a character to bring him to your campsite and try to make him stay on your island (go to NookStop to use an Amiibo Card)
- Summon characters on Harvey's Island to take great photos.
Where to buy them?
For the moment, the only way to obtain these boosters is to buy them on online sites like Amazon or Ebay. But regardless of the brand or a site where individuals can sell their own cards, prices can quickly soar.
It's better to wait for replenishment from Nintendo to take advantage of the correct price, around $5 the 3-card booster

Compatible with the Switch?
All Amiibo cards are compatible with the Nintendo Switch, even if the cards were originally created for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS. The NFC point on the right joystick of your Nintendo Switch allows you to receive the Amiibo card.
