In Final Fantasy XIV it is possible change the appearance of your character using two methods. While both methods allows you to apply some changes, one is definitly more complete than the other so let's get into it !
The Aesthetician
The Aesthetician is the first way to change the look of your character, to unlock it you will need to complete a level 15 quest given by S'dhodjbi in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X: 11 Y: 11)
After completing this quest you will be able to summon the Aesthetician in any Inn of the game and change your look for 2,000 gil.
The Aesthetician offers the following services:
- Hair styles
- Hair color
- Eye brows
- Lip color
- Facial Features
- Face paint
- Tattoos
As you can see on this list, a lot of options that were available when you first created you character are not offered by the Aesthetician, leading us to the other option that includes all the customization options even changing race and gender.
The Fantasia
Phials of Fantasia are an item that is aquired once in the story and is then only available in the Mog Station. This item let you change every thing about your character's appearance, so if you want to stop being a Lalafel to become a Miqo'te, that's the item you are looking for.
Fantasia are sometime on sale or sold in bundles so make sure to grab those opportunities when you see them coming if you're interested.
