The Illusionist is a highly versatile class in Outriders, one which can be played as an assassin of sorts, or a crowd-controlling DPS.
Reliable both in solo and co-op play, this guide will show you how to optimize your build, including skills, weapons and armor, for best effect!
Trickster — Skill Trees
For the Trickster, we recommend the Harbinger skill tree, due to its supreme control-and-survive capabilities.
The skills you'll want to pick up are Slow Trap, Venator's Knife and Time Rift, with the final node in this tree granting 20% Shield whenever you activate a DECEPTION skill — perfectly suiting the skills listed above.
Of course you can build your Trickster as an all-out Assassin should you choose, but we found more fun and variety with the Harbinger.
Trickster — Skill Choices
Unlike other classes where the skills pick themselves, variety is the spice of life with the Trickster.
However, we strongly recommend the following skills, which allow you to greater enemy control and the ability to sow chaos wherever you are.
Trickster — Legendary Armor
The Trespasser set is ideal for this build, largely thanks to its set bonus. When inside a Slow Trap, you cannot die — affording you those crucial seconds to take down your foes when in a bind.
The mods for this armor set also significantly boost the Time Rift skill, adding damage-over-time, ammo-saving boons, and longer stuns.
Trickster — Weapons
The following weapons are all good for the Trickster in their own ways, from proccing Time Rift to inflicting Bleed on opponents.
Aerie Master — Legendary Pump-Action Shotgun
- Weightlessness – Shots inflict Time Rift on enemies. Time Rift raises the enemy into the air.
- Critical Point – Increases the chance of scoring a critical shot.
Roaring Umbra — Legendary Light Machinegun
- Kinetic Stomp – Shots create a seismic shock around you, dealing damage in a radius.
- Bleeding Bullets – Shots inflict Bleed on enemies.
Voodoo Matchmaker — Legendary Assault Rifle
- Ultimate Damage Link – Shots link enemies, sharing a percentage of their Weapon damage dealt and a percentage of their Anomaly damage dealt.
- Vulnerability Bullets – Shots inflict Vulnerable on enemies.
