Valheim is full of creatures you can hunt, and even tame. Boars are useful early in the game – they drop meat and leather scraps, both of which you’ll need. Read on to find out how to capture and tame a Boar.
How to Capture a Boar
You'll find Boars in the Meadows biome. Before heading out to capture your Boar, build a wooden enclosure with a gate to lead it to.
Go out and find a Boar to startle – once it starts following you, lead it back to the pen you’ve built.
Boars aren’t very strong, but they can be aggressive, so equipping some leather armor will save your health here.
How to Tame a Boar
Once the Boar is inside the pen you'll need to feed it to change its demeanour from aggressive to affectionate. Drop piles of mushrooms, raspberries, blueberries, or carrots on the ground.
It can take a few days for the Boar to get comfortable, so be patient. You'll soon be able to pet it!
You can capture more Boars and encourage them to breed for a lasting supply of meat and leather scraps. Make sure you expand the pen as they breed, they'll need plenty of room.
