B - Charge Blade

The Charge Blade is favored by many veterans of the series, and has a fairly complex combo that requires managing phials and charges in order to inflict maximum damage.

In good hands it is an effective weapon, but the first steps in using it are rather rough. Rise has introduced parries and some useful new abilities to compensate, but compared to the competition, the Charge Blade seems lacking overall.

B - Sword and Shield

A classic combo that allow you to be fast, mobile and versatile. You'll be able to easily move around the monster and use items without having to sheath your weapon.

The basics are fairly easy to grasp, but the advanced combos and techniques required to deal good damage are aimed more at veterans and those comfortable with using status-based attacks.

While this weapon is a little weaker than in the previous title, it remains a good choice for all types of players.

B - Dual Blades

The Dual Blades are ultra-aggressive and fast weapons that allow you to run like a ninja before unleashing frenzied attacks on monsters.

It's both satisfying and classy, but comes at a price — you'll have to manage your stamina or be caught off guard at the worst possible time.

Many quality additions have been made with Rise, for varied combat and strategy. This includes a way to easily perform aerial attacks right out of Attack on Titan, or to reposition yourself and manage your survival under monsters.

Compared to other weapons, it appears to deal reduced damage.

Monster Hunter Rise – Switch Review

After rebooting the series with Monster Hunter World, Monster Hunter makes its return with a new Switch title bursting with innovation set within a world that wears its Japanese influences heavily on its sleeve. But will Rise live up to its immense potential, or will it fall short?
