Explore Everything
Exploration is the key word in Resident Evil Village. Even though the story is easy to follow, you'll have to take the time to look around to make sure you don't miss any notable items, treasures, or clues in the places you visit.
There are different ways to explore the areas, but if you're not in a hurry, take the time to consult your map — it'll tell you whether or not you've searched all the rooms. A blue marker will tell you that the room has been searched in its entirety.
Thus, players who want to go platinum on the game will have to find all the items to complete the 100%.
Be Frugal
The Duke will always have things to sell you, but don't hesitate to be frugal. Saving your Lei will allow you to buy items that will be much more useful to you, so don't waste your time buying ammunition — search for it instead! — and various accessories from the Duke.
Although it's tempting to upgrade your weapons after a few hours of play, you'll receive much more interesting weapons later to upgrade.
The same goes with the weapons and accessories sold by the Duke. You'll find better ones through exploration.
You'll want to empty your inventory as soon as you can, but be careful! Don't skip the cutscenes with the Duke, as he can give you excellent advice and sometimes some clues.
Don't sell combinable items or pieces of meat. These are items that will be very useful for the rest of your adventure.
Other Tips
Use potions only when your Health Gauge is in red, otherwise it would be a waste of this resource which is more than important.
Take the time to read the documents you encounter and flip them over. The same goes for items. If an item doesn't fit in a slot, try to look at it and rotate it, you might find something to fidget with.
Resident Evil Village's inventory is going back to the old ways and you're going to have to do some tidying up. Don't throw anything away and try to find compromises by tweaking your inventory.
Don't hesitate to kill an animal when you encounter one, and be careful with the Duke's Kitchen: the bonuses provided by the dishes are permanent, and the animals don't spawn back.
