Among the new game challenges that you will be able to complete in Resident Evil Village, there is an objective that requires you to complete the game in Village of Shadowa mode. In this new part of our complete walkthrough, we will see how it is possible to survive on maximum difficulty in the game. It could be summed up in two words: preparation and savings.

Avoid Village of Shadows on the First Run

It would clearly spoil the game for you. The hardcore mode offers enough challenge to feel like you need to be cornered, the maximum difficulty is just too much for a discovery of the story. Especially since the game does not hesitate to chain scripts and the story is told in a fairly intense way, you do not necessarily want to run into each group of enemies that you meet.

Save it for the Third Run

It seems to be the most reasonable solution if you are going to get by without too much trouble. Take the difficulty to hardcore and keep upgrading your weapons, while continuing to rack up completion points by completing challenges. Once the credits are passed a second time, you should have boosted Ethan and his arsenal enough to consider the extreme difficulty mode. This advice is also valid for those who wish to complete the three hour challenge: by taking the time to do a second run, you will continue to improve your equipment.

Progress and stocks

In line with what we told you above, continuing to play new game plus will allow you to continue improving your whole mess. Whenever you get the chance buy the recipe for magnum ammo — it can be expensive, but the weapon is so powerful you'll be glad to have it with a good supply of strongholds when you need to engage in some boss fights.

Defence is Important

In this mode of difficulty, it is imperative to know when to parry and to have the reflex to squeeze the trigger. It's not necessarily something very useful in normal play, but on hardcore or Village of Shadows difficulty it can save you.

Unlock New Game+ Weapons

Complete the conditions necessary to unlock the additional weapons available in the Special Store, so that they are available to purchase from the Duke. As for inventory management, you will necessarily have to make choices, however you can replace the weapons that you have had for a long time without worrying. By the way, completing the game in a Village of Shadows mode should give you access to one of these bonus weapons.

Train in Mercenaries Mode

This arcade mode is perfect for practicing shooting and experiencing the gameplay. By chaining the missions and aiming for the highest scores, you will progress naturally and be able to better identify the behavior of the game's bestiary.

By following these few tips and in particular the one from the third run, you should be able to complete the challenge fairly easily. It is obviously possible to finish the game in this difficulty mode in the first run, however this does not necessarily seem very optimized in terms of playing time, unless you launch a personal challenge.

Resident Evil Village: Complete list of trophies

Resident Evil Village has 50 trophies, and some are easily achieved by following the main storyline. If you want to get 100% and go platinum, you'll have to to play through a few times. We've put together a full list of the trophies you can get
