Murk Puff is one of the four bosses called World Eaters that you will have to defeat during the main Biomutant quest. Your goal is to free the Tree of Life so that the world you live in is free from pollution and other radioactive mutations. For that, you will have to defeat the four World Eaters feeding on the Tree.
If the game is in an open world, the main storyline is rather linear. The choices you make will not affect the end goal described above. Here is a guide to easily beat the Murk Puff with your Octopod.
How to get the Octopod in Biomutant
The main quest will tell you: you must first help Whiz Tinkertonker repair his Octopod in order to be able to defeat Murk Puff. First of all, Whiz will ask you to go get his Mekafingro.
The Mekafingro is therefore in the Mekastadium of sector 11D. Go inside the huge greenhouse to retrieve the robotic hand and bring it back to Whiz. You will need to activate the current going upstairs and back down to the other side of the door. To activate the mount, a rotating puzzle must be successful: this one is a bit difficult since the colored lines are almost invisible. Here is the solution:
Feel free to use Fast Travel to return to Whiz. He will ask you to go see Chu-Chu to help him repair his Octopod. Direction sector 9I, at End-of-the-Line. You will have to go to the Wingnut Chugtunnel in Sector 7J to bring him a nut.
Once the mission is completed, Chu-Chu will give you the Grease-Sprinkler, an essential item to repair the Octopod. Now all you need is ammunition to arm your future mount. Whiz will ask you to go to the Bangplant to find a Pyrostick.
Unfortunately, the shelter will be closed and you will have to find a way to open it: go and retrieve the huge missile a few meters away.
It's the home stretch: Whiz will now ask you to go see Gill to pick up some Guppos. These creatures will allow you to create a diversion when facing the Murk Puff. It can be found in Sector 11G and will prompt you to find the Guppo Grotto.
In the cave, you will have to solve the puzzle to lower the water level. Once at the bottom, you must collect 5 Guppos using your net (wait for them to jump out of the water). To get out, arm yourself with your Klonkfist and smash the yellow wall.
Once you have helped Whiz, you will see that your objective has been updated in the direction of the Murk Puff.

How to summon the Octopod
With the quest completed, you will be directly on the Octopod, underwater. The Murk Puff is about a hundred yards from Whiz, but if you need to summon the Octopod, all you have to do is use the mounts key (down directional arrow on console) and select the Octopod.
The Octopod is controlled like your character: you can jump, dodge and use weapons from a distance. Don't forget to save just before entering the Murk Puff's lair.
How to beat the Murk Puff
The Murk Puff is in the northwest of the Biomutant map and he is about to destroy one of the roots of the tree of life. Enter the den to start the fight, aboard your Octopod.

How to unlock the Boss achievement
In order to obtain the "Mariner" trophy, you must give the Murk Puff six Guppos to eat.

The different phases of the Murk Puff
Your Octopod is rather easy to use and shoots missiles directly at the World Eater (no need to aim). You will therefore have to pay attention to the various attacks of the giant monster. In the first phase, it will simply wiggle its paws from time to time. In the second phase, it will launch bombs which explode on contact and which you will have to avoid. It'll also get inside its shell and you'll need to throw Guppos at the Murk Puff to distract it.
In the third phase, the Murk Puff will send immense waves which you will have to dodge. Your only weapon is the Octopod cannon so feel free to shoot at full speed.
And there you have it, you've beaten the Murk Puff! Of course, the Octopod is acquired and you can reuse it in any area of the world.
