Great Wirebug
This giant version of the Wirebug hides in local plants, which then release blue glittering powder. By collecting the plant, it will automatically activate a Big Penguin once which will pull you to a specific position. This could be on a nearby mountain, or top of the cliff above you. This makes it potentially a fantastic source of shortcuts or the means to reach steep, even secret places, to collect valuable materials. Unfortunately, it cannot be saved for use in combat.

Wild Wirebug
By default, a hunter travels with 2 Wirebugs. But it is also possible to capture a wild one on the field to have a 3rd gauge during a certain time. This allows you to perform additional air combos and special attacks, or to gain mobility.
