Repairing your gear quickly becomes vital in Final Fantasy XIV, as gear that has reached 0% durability no longer protects you and greatly lowers your stats.

You may quickly notice the various NPCs allowing you to repair your weapons and armor all over Eorzea, but how much are you willing to spend on repairs?

The price of a repair is calculated based on the % of durability remaining on the equipment, repairing a complete set of equipment can reach several thousand gil to return to 100%. However, you can take matters into your own hands and repair your equipment yourself at low cost, the savings really are worth the "effort".

Saving gils is not the only interest of homemade repair, you can also repair your equipment even in the middle of a dungeon, very useful during long fights with two phases where going out would ruin your efforts on the P1.

Repairing your equipment yourself also allows you to exceed the 100% durability mark, something impossible with NPC repair.

To repair your equipment yourself, you must first have to level up the corresponding crafter classes, level 80 equipment requiring the affiliated crafter to be at least level 70. You will then have to buy (for 200 gil unit) the black matter of the corresponding level. Once these pre-requisites have been fulfilled, all you have to do is click on your equipment and choose repair. The repair conditions as well as the current durability of the equipment can be checked at any time as shown below.
