A gathering skill that will help you hunt down plants and other key resources, here's all you need to know about Harvesting in Amazon's New World.

Harvesting is one of the Gathering Skills in Amazon's new MMO, New World.

It will help you seek out and obtain key resources that you can refine, and requires you to equip a Sickle.

With plenty of plants ripe for harvest in Aeternum, you shouldn't find yourself short when levelling your Crafting skills!

Is Harvesting for me?

If you're looking to increase your level in Cooking, Weaving, or Arcana, then you're going to need a whole lot of herbs and spices. This gathering skill turns you into a bit of an explorer as you hunt down rare plants.

To harvest a plant, such as Hemp, press the interaction key (default E) when close to it. Be mindful to have a Sickle equipped, and make sure it isn't broken.

If you're running a build that requires Intelligence, you'll get bonuses to your Harvesting ability. You'll get this for every 50 points you have in the stat.

  • 50 Intelligence: +10% harvest speed
  • 100 Intelligence: 5% chance to gain 1 Azoth when harvesting
  • 150 Intelligence: -10% decrease in weight of harvested items
  • 200 Intelligence: +10% harvest speed
  • 250 Intelligence: +10% yield when harvesting

Adding Bonuses to Harvesting

Via Crafting Perks

You can use the following special resources when crafting to add perks to your Sickle:

Steel Botanist's Charm

Via Trophies

Displaying Trophies within your home adds more bonuses to your adventures in Aeternum.

These are the three that are relevant for Harvesting:

Minor Harvesting Gathering Trophy

Requires Furnishing Level 75.

Grants a small bonus when using the Sickle in the wild.

Only works when Trophy is displayed in your home.

Basic Harvesting Gathering Trophy

Major Harvesting Gathering Trophy

Only works when Trophy is displayed in your home.

Via Cooking

While not an upgrade for the Sickle exactly, certain food will grant a bonus to your results when harvesting plants.

Cooked Corn and Cornbread, for example, increase Harvesting luck, and they won't set you back too much in terms of resources.

Corn can be found in clusters in Windsward, First Light and Monarch's Bluffs, while you'll need to rely on chests or the Trading Post for ingredients such as Cauliflowers.

To create a Seasoning Blend, simply mix any two seasonings, such as Sugar or Salt, in the Kitchen. You can also create Butter from Milk, which can be gathered from the milkable cows in the Monarch's Bluff, First Light, Windsward, Restless Shore, or Mourningdale settlements.
