Just picked up Thresh in Wild Rift and need a few pointers?
Read our guide and you'll be a master support in no time!
Runes
Thresh is best played as a highly proactive support, initiating and coordinating trades from the very start of the game. Aftershock aids in this, giving survivability after he's inserted himself deep into the enemy ranks.
Weakness is a sound follow-up rune, allowing your team to ramp up their damage dealt to the target you've immobilized.
In green and blue, we've gone for runes that suit roaming. Thresh is good at ganking lanes, often helping secure kills when he turns up in the midlane.
Hunter - Titan benefits Thresh when this happens, while Pathfinder helps him get there more quickly.
Skills
Here is the optimal skill order. Max out the abilities as outlined in the graphic below, though make sure you rank up your ultimate whenever you can.
Note: While Thresh's Dark Passage lantern is very useful, don't take it in the first two levels. Against more tanky supports opt for Flay, and Death Sentence against ranged supports.

Main Items
The items you buy in game will vary heavily from match to match, depending on what composition the enemy team is running.
We've put together a list of the most important items for Thresh, ranked by their effectiveness. Items in bold are must-have items that you'll opt for in most, if not all, of your matches on this champion.
Tips & Tricks
- Use Flay to thwart enemy dives.
- For a little extra distance when an ally clicks on your lantern to escape, you can use Flash.
- After snaring an enemy with Death Sentence, immediately activate The Box (your ultimate) so that they hit one of the walls during hook animation for additional CC. This also applies for using Flay to knock people into walls from outside.
- Thanks to the Flay passive, Thresh is good at poking with auto-attacks.
- A good move is to slow your target with Flay, then hit them with Death Sentence.
