From runes to items, gameplay tips amd more, we've put together a guide to help you master playing Shyvana in the jungle in League of Legends.
Be mindful that there are several ways to build and play a champion, and you'll need to be adaptable as the game and the enemy team progress.
That said, this guide is a good starting point to helping you get to grips with the champion and making an impact in your games.
Runes
Core Items
Build
Nashor's Tooth is an important item on Shyvana for the attack speed, allowing for faster clears. The aim is to reach the three-item powerspike as quickly as possible.
Cosmic Drive offers raw stats and a bonus every three hits, making her highly effective at chasing enemies down.
Night Harvester completes a burst-oriented build, and ramps up the move speed and ability haste.
Other good items include Zhonya's Hourglass for survivability, Void Staff for massively increased damage, and the Morellonomicon.
Starting Item & Boots
Skill Order
While your choices may differ according to how the game progresses, the typical Vayne skill priority is:
R > E > W > Q
Summoner Spells
These are the summoner spells most typically taken by Shyvana in this role. Naturally, this may change depending on match-ups.
Gameplay
You'll want to focus on farming pre-6, as Shyvana is quite ineffective. However, once she has her ult, and a three-item powerspike, she becomes a formidable engage tool.
- Level 1 - Take E - Flame Breath first, as this will be your primary clear ability.
- Level 2 - Take W - Burnout, for even faster clear.
- First Back - Head back once you have ~1100 Gold, so you can pick up the Sorceror's Shoes.
Tips & Tricks
- Burnout lasts longer if you use auto-attacks while it's active.
- You'll deal more damage to dragons, even Elder. Make contesting them a priority with your team.
- Make sure to get the most out of Flame Breath's explosion, using it as you approach enemies to get the targeting right.
- Twin Bite works as an auto-attack reset.
- It also applies passives twice.
- Use Flame Breath on enemy tanks to see your auto-attacks deal even more damage.
- The more auto-attacks you make, the faster Dragon's Descent will come online. It has no real cooldown other than how fast you can attack.
- You don't necessarily have to use Dragon's Descent as an engage tool - you can use it once in battle to knock back enemies, to keep them at bay, or even to escape if needs be.
