Kirby and the Forgotten World was released this Friday, March 25, 2022 on Nintendo Switch and is the perfect platform game for the whole family. It is obviously possible to have fun and go up to 100% solo only, but you can also share the adventure with a loved one. Please note, this is only possible locally (physically in the same place, on the same console) and not online, remotely.

How to unlock local co-op mode on Kirby Switch?

This feature only unlocks once the first introductory level is completed, once Elfilin has been saved. It is therefore normal not to be able to play two from the very beginning of the game. It takes about 10 minutes. Once in the Village, you can talk to the Bandana Waddle-Dee who is to the left of the yellow star. He will explain all the intricacies of the cooperative mode.

How to play with two players?

There are several ways to enable two-player co-op:

  • You can select the two player mode from the title screen with the option "continue in co-op",
  • You can activate co-op at any time, even in full level, by going to the (+) menu and choosing "play in co-op".

It is possible to use only one pair of Joycon (each player will then take a controller in horizontal mode).

The main player will control Kirby as usual while Player 2 can take control of Bandana Waddle-Dee. This character has very interesting abilities like throwing spears, whirling in the air dropping seeds on enemies, combo attacks with the spear etc.
