Your stroll through the woods of Vanheim with the feathered version of Freya is not without a hitch in God of War Ragnarök. You encounter groups of fearsome monsters, and even several small bosses, before you even get to the main course.

The objective of this guide, as well as all those dedicated to the bosses that will follow, is to help you beat them on maximum difficulty, "Only God of War", so that they are relevant for all levels.

What equipment to use?

Friske is probably the easiest boss in the game to parry, so take advantage of it and use the Dauntless Shield to let off steam. The rest of the gear doesn't really matter, this boss is a joke.

List of attacks and how to counter them

Fiske may be considered more of a big enemy than a boss, but he has a few surprises in his arsenal:

Scythe Smash/Switch-Lance (Normal Attack) : There are two basic attack types, large, fairly slow Scythe Smashes, and others during which it turns into a spear, where Fiske chains two to three attacks faster. His arm movements are so wide and obvious that you shouldn't have trouble parrying the shield to fill up his stun gauge quickly.

Scythe Kick (Red Attack) : It often happens that Fiske gets angry and uses a more dangerous attack, which you just have to dodge quickly. The important thing is not to fall asleep following his normal attacks that are easy to block. Occasionally he sends a yellow version of this attack, which can be parried, but this is rare.

Scythe Smash (Blue Attack) : While blue attacks from bosses are usually extremely deadly, and often need to be interrupted at all costs, that's not the case here. You just have to dodge. Time doesn't slow down to help either, but if you have the reflexes to double tap L1, this is the best option.

Bifröst explosion (red attack) : Finally, Fiske sometimes causes a large explosion around him. It is indicated by a red circle, and he holds his weapon in a different way. Instead of having his scythe above his head, he holds it upside down before preparing to strike the ground. If you have a fast runic attack capable of interrupting it, this is a good option. Otherwise, get as far away as possible.
