The official Borderlands 3 website presented some new information about weapons and their manufacturers in early April. We find most of the manufacturers already known except Bandit and Scav as rumours have suggested. However, a new kid led by the game's enemies has appeared, Children of the Vault. Each of the former manufacturers was given a short description with illustrations.
The Manufacturers
A manufacturer is missing
It was confirmed that there were 10 weapon manufacturers in the game. However, here we have 9. So, Gearbox Software keeps a trick in its bag and hides from us, for the moment, who will be the last weapons manufacturer in the game.
Assumptions are well advanced on reddit in particular. Pagolin could start making weapons. Alien Eridian technology would be back with guns stamped 'Eridian'. How about 'SnSmunition'? In short, you will have understood it, there is a mark missing on the call and maybe the secret will be preserved until the game is released!
Elemental Effects
We know them well and they are essential to master the Borderlands combat system, these are the Elemental Effects. We already know that the 4 main elements of the series will be in the game:
- Incendiary
- Electric
- Corrosive
- Explosive
Why didn't we put the slag on? Because it will not be present in the game (the information is confirmed by Randy Pitchford). The latter is replaced by a nuclear radiation element. Just that. This new nuclear element would do more or less the same as slag. Its purpose is therefore to make enemies vulnerable, but it is not yet clear to what extent. In addition, the latter will have long-term damage (a Dot) and seems to be able to spread around enemies who have just been killed. Information about the slag replacement is still missing but it seems relatively badass!
Speculation
It is possible that a sixth elementary effect will join the celebration. This is a rumor that is supported by the Screenshots below. Indeed, in Borderlands: The Pre-sequel, the cryo element appeared. We could see him again in Borderlands 3. In any case, some enemies seem to use it...
