Whatever the game, it is impossible to balance it completely. Some heroes may be more powerful than others. Hearthstone Battlegrounds is no exception to the rule, and even if it is still in closed beta until next Tuesday, tier lists are starting to be released among streamers and professional players. By mixing their opinions with ours, we have created this list of all Battlegrounds' heroes! The list is necessarily subjective and subject to discussion and modification as more players arrive on the game.
In the meantime, let's get the list!
Our Tier List
S Tier
The new League of Explorers hero quickly established himself as one of the best heroes in the game. With his passive power, all your minions with Battlecry become even more interesting than they already are, right from the start of the game!
From the first level of the tavern, you already have an advantage over, literally, a third of the minions. Indeed, Brann's hero power can be activated on the minion with Battlecry who has just been laid down.
If you have a choice, don't hesitate and test it!
Easy to play
Patchwerk is THE hero with the most health points in the game. With a pool of 60 HP, you can afford to be a little more aggressive in your choices at the beginning of the game in order to prepare yourself as well as possible for the final victory.
He's probably the best hero to take Demon. The Wrath Weaver, one of the archetype's key cards building up damage for a long time, until you find Mal'Ganis that will protect you from his ability.
Relatively easy to play
A.F.Kay passes two turns without being able to do anything and loses between 4 and 8 HP. Where she makes sense is on turn 3, where she discovers a tier 3 and a tier 4 minions. Needless to say, most of the time, she can no longer be beaten for a few turns, thus taking a big advantage over her opponents.
Easy to play
Do you like RNG? Then, this hero is made for you! The minions you get boosted will be perfect for the beginning of the game, and will help you reach the mid-game without taking any damage. On turn 3, his hero power gives you an advantage over the other heroes, allowing you to recover two servants without selling a single one.
Finally, the possibility of buying a minion for less than the other heroes is a very positive point, allowing him to secure a good place in the ranking.
Easy to play
The Rat King has been at the top of the meta Battlegrounds since the beginning of the game. His boost is very important at all stages of the game, but it has a much greater impact at the beginning. RNG can really help or harm you and you have to be careful not to get too caught up in the desire to use your hero power to the maximum.
Hard to play
A Tier
The 1/1 Amalgam he offers at the start is a huge advantage at the beginning of the game. The fact that this Amalgam has all types makes this unit very strong regardless of the strategy you choose, which can be buffered by literally all the effects. In the end, it should become a huge minion with Taunt, Divine Shield and Toxicity.
Easy to play
Nefarian is missing the S tier from a few inches, and we scratched our heads during countless hours before deciding to rank him there. His hero power is incredibly powerful in late-game since it's directly countering Divine Shield strategies. Whereas you're facing Murlocs, Mechs or even a Menagerie composition, it will give you a certain advantage. That's also the reason why he's probably the only hero that can actually play Demons at the moment.
Easy to play
At first glance, hispower seems quite weak, compared to other heroes. However, the possibility of reducing the cost of the tavern by 1 gold allows you to move faster towards the highest tier, thus offering you a major advantage. Since the number of minions is limited, you will be able to more easily recover the most powerful minions while reducing the number available to others...
Easy to play
The Recruitment Map is actually much stronger than you could ever think. It's far more superior to refreshing the tavern pool since it guarantees you the choice between three minions from your actual tier.
Her power is the key to your strategy, allowing to look for more powerful minions around which you'll build your army.
Hard to play
Deryl is one of the most powerful heroes of the game. He's also one of the most complexes, especially for new players. If you're playing him correctly, you'll be able to boost your most powerful minions, but it will require you to play fast while knowing how to optimize your roster. Minions that summon others thanks to Battlecry are perfect to get the most out of his hero power!
Hard to play
B Tier
Her main strength will be at the beginning of the game. The most effective strategy is to buy a T1 minion, freeze the remaining ones, improve the T2 tavern by freezing again and finally buy the boosted T3 minions! They will have received +2/+2, giving you a significant advantage over your opponents.
Relatively easy to play
If you want to play Pogo-Hopper, he's the best hero! More seriously, he remains a very strong hero who allows you to improve the endgame boosts such as Menagerie Magician who will then might give +2/+2 six times, a boost of +12/+12.
Be careful, Brann Bronzebeard and his hero power don't add up!
Relatively easy to play
If you reach the end of the game, you can ensure yourself a very high place in the ranking. He will be able to grant Divine Shields to your most interesting minions offering them great survivability. Be careful though, his hero power costs 4 pieces, more than buying a minion, making it useless for a long time.
Hard to play
The power of Jaraxxus is very strong. If you do well, it will be a +7+7 for 2 pieces (if all your minions are Demons). The only problem is that it forces you to play Demons if you want to have a chance to use his power.
If you find your demons, it will be victory, otherwise, it will be like not having hero power throughout the game.
Easy to play but very risky
His hero power discovers a secret, which will often be very useful, especially at the end of the game. If it is not used during a fight, it will remain for the rest of the game until it is activated. One of the most interesting will be Ice Block, which will literally offer you an additional survival tour by preventing any lethal damage.
Hard to play
Its power allows you to protect your most important servants. You will mainly want to give Reborn to minions with Deathrattle, allowing them to be used twice.
Relatively easy to play
Ragnaros does exactly what was expected of him: throwing huge balls of fire at the opposing minions. Powerful at the beginning of the game and around the middle of the game, you will need a lot of luck to make it useful at the end. If you kill a Cave Hydra or Junkbot, that's a jackpot. Most of the time your power will destroy two Divine Shields, which remains relatively interesting.
Easy to play
C Tier
Following her nerf, Toki went from S rank S to C. Ensuring a minion of higher tavern level is very strong, especially at the end of the game when you will be at tavern level 5 is indeed very strong. However, you will need a lot of luck for that, and obviously to actually reach the end of the game for your heroic power to reveal its true power.
Hard to play
The boost offered by her hero power is too small to be really interesting. Powerful at the beginning of the game, where 1 HP is the difference between victory and defeat, her power will be much less interesting later, especially since only HPs are increased.
Relatively easy to play
D Tier
His hero power is really, really weak. It won't make that much difference in the early game and will be completely useless in the late game.
Avoid him at all costs
Feel free to tell us in commentary who is THE hero who most deserves the famous S rank!
