The bike is one of the main vehicles of Death Stranding: as practical as a horse in Red Dead Redemption 2, you will see that you can do just about anything you want with it as long as you know how to handle it.

How to unlock the bike

The bike's blueprint will be automatically unlocked by following the main deliveries in the story. You can build it whenever you want from the craft menu: if the outpost doesn't have a garage, you will have no access to the vehicles. Surprisingly enough, you will have access to this equipment soon as you travel west, so enjoy it!

How to craft the bike

There are 3 types of bikes that you can unlock as you travel, each with a different resource cost. Here are their characteristics and what you will need to craft them:

  • 3 wheels: 220 metals, 160 ceramics. The basic motorcycle, with two storage compartments.
  • 3 long-range wheels: 240 metals, 160 ceramics. The bags are removed but its autonomy is greatly improved.
  • 3 defensive wheels: 200 metals, 160 ceramics, 48 special alloys. Better resist shocks, bullets and electrical attacks.

Tips on how to use it properly

Here are some tips to help you optimize the use of your bike on Sam Porter desolate American lands:

  • Off-road: You'd think the bike wouldn't pass through rocky areas, but its 3-wheel mode, very practical, will allow you to pass through them. Combine the rear wheel and the jump with the cross button to improvise yourself a professional trial rider. Be careful, it requires a little practice.
  • Turbo start: In 3-wheel mode, keep the pedal and brake pressed, then switch to turbo mode and release the brake, this will make you start directly at full speed, very convenient to escape the MULEs.
  • Long jump: With a very good momentum and a stepping stone, you can make the bike fly away. When you are at full speed, lift your front wheel and jump.
  • Battery and water: Using the boost while driving in rivers will consume a lot of battery power. Try to make a route that goes through generators placed by the players, or, even better, take a PCC kit in your cargo to place one yourself, but be careful, you will need to be connected to the chiral network.

How to place your bike for a maximum of likes

You can make a bike for other Porters, it could bring you a few hundred likes in multiplayer if you meet some conditions:

  • Personalize your bike: change the colors to make it more flashy, it will attract the eye
  • Combine it with a sign: A small 'free to use' sign next to your bike to improvise a parking space will necessarily make people want to borrow it more.
  • Choose the right model: If you put a motorcycle away from a garage, make sure it's the right model. The model with a few storage spaces, or the long life battery model, more suitable to help people on long distance deliveries.
  • Avoid the rain: Don't put your bike in a place where the rain tends to fall, it will accelerate its deterioration, and no one wants a rusty bike!
