With the launch of the Shadowlands expansion, the 2021 edition of the Mythic Dungeon International even has kicked off in World of Warcraft.
A handful of teams are competing for the same prestigious award: a spot at the Grand Final — which takes place every year at BlizzCon — and possibly the title of World Champion.
Dates
- Cup 1: January 22, 23 and 24, 2021, 7:00 PM CET
- Cup 2: February 05, 06 and 07, 2021, 7:00 PM CET
- Cup 3: February 26, 27, 2021, 7:00 PM CET, and 28, 9:00 PM CET
- Cup 4: March 12, 13, 2021, 7:00 PM CET, and 14, 6:00 PM CET
Format
In order to determine which of these teams are in the top eight in each region, this tournament awards MDI points based on their rankings in the four different cups in their region.
The top four teams are automatically qualified, the remaining four are selected based on their points.
The top six teams automatically earn their place in the Season Finals. The teams occupying 7th and 8th places are selected during a separate tournament in China.
- Teams must have 5 players split between 1 Tank, 1 Healer and 3 DPS
- Teams cannot have two identical classes, including two different specializations
- Only consumables available from NPCs can be used
- All tournaments are played with two elimination brackets
- All matches are played according to best-of-three (BO3) rules
- Instances, key levels and affixes are chosen by Blizzard and communicated to teams at least 48 hours before the start of the tournament
- Teams will be matched against each other according to the performance of each during the Time Trials
- Matches played between the top eight teams are broadcast live
Prize Pool
Each Regional Cup offers a prize, in addition to points needed to advance to regional championships and eventually to BlizzCon.
