Core Items
Build
Sunfire Aegis is a great tanky item for a jungler with damage utility, offering plenty of resist and armor and some ability haste.
Demonic Embrace builds on that for AP tanks, ramping up Amumu's damage the more health he has.
Other good items include Winter's Approach, Thornmail, Force of Nature, and Zhonya's Hourglass.
Starting Item & Boots
Skill Order
While your choices may differ according to how the game progresses, the typical Amumu skill priority is:
R > E > Q > W
Summoner Spells
These are the summoner spells most typically taken by Amumu in this role. Naturally, this may change depending on match-ups.
Gameplay
Amumu takes some time to get going, but once he has his ultimate at 6, his ganks become highly effective. Make sure you have total vision before going for a gank, and be creative with your angles - his Bandage Toss has great range, allowing for surprise engages from all manner of positions.
- Level 1 - Take W - Despair, and toggle it to help clear jungle camps more quickly.
- Level 2 - Take E - Tantrum, for the extra damage and tankiness.
- First Back - Bami's Cinder will help with clearing jungle camps more quickly, allowing you to rush 6.
Tips & Tricks
- You can use your Bandage Toss on minions if an enemy champion is out of reach, then follow up with Curse of the Sad Mummy to stun in an area.
- Tantrum is excellent to use against camps with more than one enemy, such as Raptors or Wolves, as its cooldown is reduced more quickly when they attack you.
- Pay attention to your mana pool when you use Despair, as it drains quickly. In the early game, it's best used in bursts rather than constantly.
