The last Diablo 4 report was released in 2019, so fans were eager to find out more, and to read the quarterly update Blizzard has promised. You can read the full blog at this address, but here's a summary of the highlights:
Diablo 4: Inventory
- Items will remain of a single size to reduce inventory management. Their icons have had their style changed to be clearer and more representative of their appearance on your character.
- The inventory has been revised, as well as the rarity colors of the items for more clarity, while preserving the visual identity of the game both dark and realistic.
Diablo 4: Shortcuts
- It will finally be possible to reconfigure the left click to disassociate it from attacks and skills if you wish to use it to move around. All keys will be able to be used for skills. An important flexibility is also promised for the controllers.
- The shortcuts bar with the gauges will be by default in the bottom center on PC, and in the bottom left on consoles, but it will be possible to make it adopt the other position on PC for those who wish it.
Diablo 4 : Play with a controller on PC
It will finally be possible to play with controller on PC, and switch easily from one control mode to another. The interface will be unified to accommodate both types of controls.
Diablo 4: Couch Co-Op UI
This feature is now confirmed, you will be able to play with 2 players on the same screen and each player will be able to open their own menus without any problem. It's not specified if this feature is reserved for consoles or not, so we can assume that it will be an option on PC as well.
Diablo 4: Cannibals Monster Family
The developers talked about the concept of families of monsters or enemies when announcing the game. These are opponents that are part of the same faction, they cooperate and they have synergies in their attack modes. Each family also favours a certain style of play, for example, attacking in numbers, ranged attacks, etc. Even though they have different types of units.
- Cannibals seem to be fallen barbarians in exile who have turned to eating human flesh.
- Cannibals all fight in melee, but with different types of weapons, some long, some short and fast. Others are heavy and capable of stunning the player. They form a combo, with the heavy club that stuns the player, then the fast troops that surround and ravage the player.
Although they do not have remote units, cannibals compensate by being numerous, fast and mobile. Some jump in the air, others sneak through other monsters and so on.
