The announcement of Diablo IV at BlizzCon has created a lot of hype among fans, but also a lot of fear given the general sentiment around Diablo III. Here, we attempt to list what the community is expecting most from Blizzard.

Diablo 4: What are players expecting?

After the initial wave of announcements and presentations about Diablo IV at BlizzCon, things have calmed down, and we're in a period of lull that could last a while.

Until Blizzard offers us something more substantial, and before we get much closer to the release date, here are some of the things that stand out most in player requests.

This list not meant to be exhaustive or unanimously requested by the community, so feel free to let us know what you'd like for Diablo IV in comment, as well as what you think of this list.

Diablo 4

An offline mode

Let's start with what seems to be a lost cause, given the clear MMO/multiplayer direction Diablo IV seems to be taking and what the developers are saying, but the ability to play offline is eagerly desired by some.

Whether it's players with a poor connection, or no connection at all, fans of single-player gaming without interference, or simply those traumatized by the poor performance of Battle.net's game servers.

Whether it's the inability to play certain days or times on Diablo III when it launches, wild disconnections, occasional unbearable lags, and deaths caused by playing hardcore, there are many reasons to have the option to play offline, even if it's at the cost of features like PvP or World Boss support.

Diablo 4

Blizzard has not yet specified the extent to which console gamers will need to pay a subscription fee such as PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold to play Diablo IV.

On the other hand, one argument in favor of mandatory online mode is the fight against cheating, or that it avoids dividing characters between local and online characters as Diablo 2 did.

However, the lack of a fight against bots on Diablo III in recent years has robbed the studio of credibility in this area.
