After long months without even an MSI to get their teeth into, LEC teams will return to the Rift on June 12. Who are the favorites? Who's aiming for the title?

LEC 2020 Power Rankings: Summer Split Preview

On June 12, the League of Legends European Championship will resume with the Summer Split and, just like the end of the Spring Split, it will be played online.

That's not the only difference, as the LEC was entitled another seed into Worlds, meaning that four teams instead of three will have the honor to represent EU on the international stage.

Which teams are the favorites? Quick answer in our Power Rankings just below.

1 — G2 Esports

Spring Split rank: 1st

Not only are G2 Esports the defending champions, but they have rebuilt the exact lineup that led them to the 2019 Worlds finals. With Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard Winther and Luka "Perkz" Percović role-swapping again, G2 are certainly the biggest favorites of the competition.

Add to that the fact that Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski is now a two-times LEC MVP and you'll certainly have one of the strongest rosters for the Summer Split.

2 — Fnatic

Spring Split rank: 2nd

Although they got beaten by G2 in finals, Fnatic's performance over the Spring Split was nonetheless impressive. Sure, they didn't play their best League when facing the Samurais but they've proven countless times that they still deserve to be considered one of the best teams in Europe.

With their 2019 Spring Split title, G2 now has the same number of LEC title than Fnatic — but which of these two rival teams will finally be crowned ton the throne of Europe?

3 — MAD Lions

Spring Split rank: 4th

By qualifying into Playoffs, then by defeating G2 in Semi-finals, the MAD Lions rookies sprang an enormous surprise that made most people look at them differently. The Lion cubs are trying to replicate FunPlus Phoenix gameplay, and they surely proved their ability to innovate and surprise the most veteran players. As a consequence, they are strong contenders for this split title.

4 — Origen

Spring Split ra: 3rd

While they played a quite good split, Origen disappointed most people in the end as they were clearly considered as real challengers for Fnatic and G2. However, their consistency makes them remain at the top of the LEC, especially with their ability to take best of one matches without a drop of sweat.

5 — Misfits Gaming

Spring Split rank: 5th

No one was really expecting them, yet Misfits achieved a pretty good Spring Split. With the recent addition of the veteran ADC Kasper "Kobbe" Kobberup to their roster, the rabbits are certainly promising this year...

6 — Rogue

Spring Split rank: 6th

Let's face it, Rogue has what it takes to qualify for Playoffs — but that's it. The team struggled to perform during the entire spring split, although their roster looks pretty strong in theory. It remains to be seen if anything will change this split, but otherwise Rogue will remain in 6th: just on the edge of qualifying for Playoffs.

7 — Excel Esports

Spring Split rank: 7th

As Joey "Yougbuck" Steltenpool failed to make a Playoff team out of Excel Esports, the English organization decided to make some little changes to their roster bringing Joran "Special" Scheffer in the midlane and Felix "Kryze" Hellström in the toplane.

It remains to be seen if this will be enough to tackle the mid-table team...

8 — FC Schalke 04 Esports

Spring Split rank: 8th

After a disastrous start to the Spring Split, crippled by the failed comeback of Konstantinos-Napoleon "FORG1VEN" Tzortziou, Schalke 04 managed to get back on track thanks to the addition of Lukas "Lurox" Thoma and Nihat "Innaxe" Aliev to their roster. However, this lineup still has everything to prove — hence this placement in our rankings.

9 — SK Gaming

Spring Split rank: 9th

Although SK Gaming managed to spring some good surprises during the Spring Split, it feels they didn't have what it takes to face most LEC teams. Kanik "Jenax" Bartels moving to the toplane and the recruitment of BIG's midlaner Dirk "ZaZee" Mallner could be the tweak SK needed — but it remains to be seen...

10 — Team Vitality

Spring Split rank: 10th

Team Vitality had one of the worst split of its history, conceding 16 of their 18 matches. With their newly formed roster, Vitality's future certainly looks brighter, but just like all teams in the bottom table, they have everything to prove.
