This new Cyberpunk 2077 teaser was revealed during the first game of the NBA Finals between basketball heavyweights the LA Lakers and the Miami Heat.
“In 2077, what makes someone a criminal?” Reeves asks. “Getting caught. In Night City, you can become anyone, anything, if your body can pay the price. So seize the day, then set it on fire.”
The ad doesn’t include any new gameplay footage, but it joins a few select games to have had an ad placed with such prominence. Certainly, the audience would have been massive — Game 1 of the Finals was the most watched program on TV last night.
It's a solid strategy to promote Cyberpunk 2077, especially as there is fresh controversy surrounding the game. Yesterday, studio head Adam Badowski was forced to make an official statement following revelations of a U-turn on mandatory crunch promises.
However, this controversy doesn't seem to have affected the hype around the game at all.
Narrated by Keanu Reeves as himself (rather than the character he plays in the game), the trailer shows us the world of 2077 set to a remix of Billie Eilish's smash hit Bad Guy in the background.
Keanu Reeves plays Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, which will launch on November 19, 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with Stadia, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S versions to come in 2021.
