An ambitious project, Guild Esports currently have rosters in both FIFA and Rocket League. Now they have moved into a third esport, Riot Games' VALORANT, picking up the Sweden-based Bonk roster that finished second in August's LVL Clash 2.
The players acquired by the org are:
- Malkolm "bonkar" Rench
- Leo "Leo" Janneson
- Yacine "Yacine" Laghmari
- William "draken" Sundin
- Filip "Goffe" Gauffin
Despite only having been launched in late 2019, Guild Esports has already floated on the London Stock Exchange, raising more than £20 million, and has revealed a £3.6 million sponsorship deal with an as-yet unknown 'European fintech company'.
"Joining the Valorant community is a perfect step for Guild and we are delighted to expand into the new exciting and emerging esports space," Guild's new Executive Chairman Carleton Curtis said.
"Valorant is destined to become a major esport with global reach and deep fan bases and it benefits from the prestige of being developed by best-in-class publisher Riot Games.
"With these signings, Guild has established itself as a multi-disciplinary esports business and we are looking forward to fielding rosters in new games as we continue to scale and invest in our business utilising the war chest we raised in our IPO."
Promising an Academy system that moulds young esports players into professionals, Guild certainly have a different perspective at how esports should work, and with Beckham's involvement will attract interest wherever they choose to operate.
