The Champions Tour is VALORANT's brand new annual competition. Announced at the end of 2020, it had aroused the enthusiasm of players like the Worlds of League of Legends.
The circuit started last month with the Challengers. These events are played in ten regions around the world with one goal: to qualify for the Masters.
The match between the Brazilian teams Vorax and SLICK recently paid a high price for an in-game dysfunction.
Slasher reported on Twitter that the bug had caused the game to crash in overtime. The match exceeded the 90-minute, limit which automatically made players return to the game lobby.
This happened in their second overtime game at 15-15. As Vorax led the way 4-2, victory seemed to be in hand, the crash forced Riot to start another game at 12-12.
Vorax ended up losing this match and then the next, putting an end to this Champions Tour adventure. The team had already failed against SLICK in the semi-finals, then propelled into the lower bracket before meeting for this qualification in the final.
Riot Games is aware of this bug since it has occurred during several official matches, in different regions of the world. However, the publisher still hasn't addressed the issue.
According to the Liquipedia site, no VALORANT match has ever exceeded 90 minutes since it is impossible.
