At the moment, we talk a little, a lot, passionately about T1 . This historic structure of the LCK, three-time world champion, currently plays the MSI of League of Legends. Undefeated during the Spring Split, the team is a dream and many present it as a flawless cyborg.
However, it should not be forgotten that in South Korea , other quality competitors are impatiently awaiting the Summer Split and the Worlds at the end of the year. Some will cite Gen.G and the monstrous Chovy, but we also think of DWG KIA. The reigning vice-world champions have indeed recovered Nuguri and could well return to the top of the food chain. Speaking of the team, she is looking for a new coach to come and fill her coaching staff... The structure published a job offer and our wise eye fell on a rather particular condition , that some will consider as " discriminatory ".
To coach DWG KIA you must be a non-smoker
In the recruitment form, we find very classic requests: to have experience, to be ready to invest in helping the team and the players... but there is a rather special condition! The sheet mentions that the future coach must be a non-smoker. This is rather unusual and some would consider it a bit strange...given that smoking is a personal thing that doesn't affect performance a priori. In a pinch, it can give bad breath but it doesn't go much further. The most extremists will speak of " discrimination ".
Without context, it's hard to explain this condition, which even in Korea is really not common. But there may be a hidden reason ... A player or staff member may be really intolerant to the smell and smoke of cigarettes. DWG KIA may also have decided to fight against tobacco, an addictive practice which is dangerous for health (cancer).
cigarettes in south korea
According to a WHO study from 2017, smoking mainly concerns men in South Korea with 49.8% of smokers , against only 4.2% of women smokers in the country. The practice is therefore very gendered and it is generally frowned upon for a woman to smoke.
