League of Legends balancing isn't always easy. Developers sometimes make mistakes and can create monstrosities, but sometimes they just can't do what "they actually wanted to do" . This is the case with Seraphine. If the champion is originally planned to be played in the support position, it turns out that she is more powerful in an AP carry role, a situation that Riot Games tried to resolve at the beginning of the year, without succeeding.
Changes, but not for now
The champion is always very popular in the support role, especially at low ELO where it is her main role. But if we go up the ranks we realize that, the higher the level, the more it is played as an AP carry.
At Diamond ranks and above, it is played at 46.6% at the support position, 29.5% at the ADC position and 23.6% at the mid position. And this is where we can understand her real power since when she occupies the position of AP carry in the bot, she displays a win rate of 53.6% – for only 46.6% in the support position.
According to the developers themselves, and more specifically August " August " Browning: "Séraphine is good in mid and overpowered as a bot carry. If someone reports you for playing Seraphine AP carry, you should carry it. They troll your team's chances of winning by telling you not to play it like that. Seraphine AP carry is better than almost all AD carries in terms of winning the game. If your team wants to have the carry more chances to win, she should be applauding you for doing it. It's a really strong pick."
During patch 12.5, Riot Games already tried to send the champion back to the bot lane a little more, because she was making some noticeable mishaps on the mid lane. The studio had granted him some buffs to his defensive kit, notably on his W - Surround Sound and on his E - Beat.
Riot Games is therefore still planning changes on the dreamy singer, but did not give details: "We spent time thinking about how to improve Seraphine in the support position without affecting her role as AP carry" , said developer Ray "Ray Yonggi" Williams. "Nothing to announce on this at the moment, but we are aware of the players' requests."
