For a game designed primarily for mobile platforms, Diablo Immortal demands unusually active and intense player participation, which makes sense, since it's an action-RPG in line with its PC predecessors. It's not easy on a touch screen, especially when you're not used to it, and it's important to be able to follow the action and control your character properly. But a much more important facet than in previous games is being able to communicate easily with other players. With clans, raids, and the whole MMO aspect in general, Blizzard has integrated some specialized tools, as this blog details .
Play Diablo Immortal on a controller
One of the biggest additions to the game is the ability to play with almost any controller, whether on the mobile version or on PC. It's still much more comfortable, at least for PC gamers, or for those who have a support for their phone. Playing with the keyboard and mouse combo is an option on PC, but it's not ideal for certain combinations of actions, like running in one direction while aiming with an ability in the other.
Here is the default key assignment on an Xbox controller, it is similar on all modern controllers with a similar configuration. As you can see, the left joystick allows you to move your character, while the right one allows you to target with skills. This explains why the majority of skills are on the R/L triggers, rather than the right buttons. However, it is possible to reassign the keys.
Repositioning keys on the touchscreen
If you too suffer from fat finger syndrome, various options in the settings allow you to modify the position of the skill keys on the screen in order to put them more or less on the edges of the screen. There are also different sets of controls and contact perception to activate them.
Chat options and voice input
It is possible to change the font size in the game chat, as well as to enable audio transcription into written text. The reverse is also possible, with a synthetic voice that will read the messages written on the chat to you, with different options to adapt it to your preferences or your needs.
Brightness and display
Diablo Immortal includes many graphics options, but as far as accessibility is concerned, only the brightness can be edited at the moment. It's a big comfort gain in a lot of situations, since the game is dark and the reflections can be really annoying. A colorblind mode and a contrast enhancement option are planned, but they are not yet available .
