The creators of Diablo Immortal certainly thought they had dodged the eye of the storm, after an overall successful launch week, and a gaming experience that was praised by much of the community. But it was without counting the lightning of the site Metacritic, which is sometimes of a great cruelty. This Monday, June 6, Diablo Immortal's overall user rating dropped to 0.7 out of 10 . We even thought that the site bugged so much the sentence was heavy, but looking a little at the comments, we can see that the players are very upset.
A real slaughter
Metacritic is far from being an absolute reference in terms of appreciation of a game by an entire community, but the site translates rather well the frustration that most players feel. And the fans were quick to tackle the game on its monetization system, and its pay to win aspects.
The cash play system often goes very badly with the Metacritic community, and with Diablo Immortal, it did not miss. Add to that the fact that the Diablo fanbase had, at Blizzcon 2018, badly received the port of the license on mobile, and you get a rather explosive cocktail.
Does the game deserve such a pithy note? On other media (the Google Play Store for example), Diablo Immortal displays a much more encouraging rating (4.4 / 5 on Monday, June 6). And even on Metacritic, on the press and critical review side, the game's rating is 81/100, on average.
One of the worst ratings ever recorded
Bad ratings are not uncommon on Metacritic, but there, the title's general score is really very close to 0... It therefore puts Diablo Immortal on the podium of the three worst-rated games in history, behind GTA Trilogy and Warcraft 3 Reforged.
