Diablo Immortal: the pity of legendary gems at the origin of a new scandal
0

Blizzard's mobile game is splashed with a new scandal, a week after its release. This time it's the pity system that's overwhelmed on reddit. Its in-game description is confusing for anyone who doesn't read the small lines...

The image of Diablo Immortal is gradually tarnished by the dramas that break out within the community. The pay to win aspect of Blizzard's new game is going very badly with fans, especially since it concentrates a few gray areas... This week, it's the pity system for legendary gems that has been singled out by the players. And it adds to the long list of problematic features.

On Reddit, several players have revealed that the notion of "5-star gem" lacks clarity in the explanatory paragraph of in-game drop rates. In short, Blizzard's explanation of the probabilities of obtaining a gem of this quality is unclear and confusing.

The pity who does not give a gift

In the world of mobile games, and more specifically gatchas, pity is a system that aims to avoid too much frustration among players. Clearly, this is a feature that regulates drop rates to a minimum, guaranteeing a rare or legendary drop after a certain number of open lootboxes .

On Diablo Immortal, every 50 Legendary Emblems used, “ you are guaranteed to receive a 5-star gem ,” the in-game explanatory text tells us . Except that this pity system is actually supplemented by another battery of probabilities, and in fact your Gem thus "guaranteed" may only have four, three or even two stars.

However, the principle of pity usually is to guarantee 100% an object or an ultimate character. This is not the case for Diablo Immortal, where pity only increases your chances of obtaining the loot of your dreams.

More severe than assumed gatchas?

Also on reddit, players have calculated the raw drop rate of a real 5-star Legendary Gem (5/5). This one is only 0.045% . To get an idea of the great severity of the system, just compare this drop rate to those of other gatcha games on the market, to obtain the most powerful objects/units. On Raid Shadow Legends, the rate of getting a nat 5 with a Void shard is 0.5%; In Summoners War, the rate of getting a 5 star Light or Dark character with a Light & Dark Scroll is 0.35%. It's not much, but in either case, it's almost 10 times more than on Diablo Immortal.

The new Fantasy Shop skin is coming soon!

The all-new League of Legends fantasy store will soon be getting an exclusive new skin. After Pyke for its launch, Riot Games has just unveiled the second champion who will receive an ash knight skin, and it is none other than Pantheon!
