Today kicked off the third week of the 2022 LCK Summer Split regular season with two matchups on the schedule: Liiv SANDBOX vs DRX followed by T1 vs Kwangdong Freecs. Both games had a relatively similar outcome as two of the undefeated League of Legends teams in this early split lost 1-2.
For T1, this means the end of a long series of victories started 6 months ago (we are talking about Bo won here and we are not talking about individual matches).
A loss to take
The meeting had however started well for T1 who won in the first game in 27 short minutes. But Kwangdong rebounded by winning the second game, to finally play a much more complicated final game - with some innovations at the level of the draft. An Ornn on the mid lane for FATE and an Ashe for Teddy, the team's ADC — picks who hadn't come out in those respective positions in the LCK since 2021.
After an immaculate Spring Split, it's time for the first fall for the structure. But there is nothing to be ashamed of, with 24 straight wins, T1 also broke their own record from 2015 and their 23 game unbeaten streak in the LCK.
But the misfortune of some is the happiness of others. Following the defeat of T1, Gen.G finds himself alone at the top of the standings — 4 wins for 0 losses — followed by DRX and... T1. The two teams must also face each other this Friday around 1 p.m., which will once again upset the regular season standings.
