Among the many activities available to you in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, one of the great traditions is of course the hunt for shiny, these ultra-rare Pokémon of different colors from the originals. Here is a technique to make some of them appear more easily!

Pokémon Scarlet Violet: A technique to get shiny easily?

Pokémon Scarlet/Violethas now been released a few days ago, and who says new Pokémon means new shiny hunt! These ultra-rare Pokémon in their original color are highly prized, and even harder to spot than in previous games. Indeed, there is no longer a sound or little stars that shine to indicate their appearance like in Legends: Arceus, now you have to be very vigilant, making the task even more complicated.

However, a technique exists to catch some of them more easily and it is explained in this video by YouTuber PhillyBeatzU.

Picnics

In Pokémon Scarlet/violet, as in Arceus, you can sometimes see Massive Appearances appear on your map, symbolized by the icon of a specific Pokémon or a question mark. These are areas with a very high concentration of a single Pokémon. Once in these areas, using the "Forward!" on the R trigger on your controller, you can send your Pokémon into battle and KO Pokémon in the open. Finally, one of the new features in Scarlet/Violet is the ability to picnic on the map, resting your character and resetting the surrounding area.

The technique is very simple and abuses these 3 features in order to make the shiny version appear in the massive appearance. You will quickly understand. Here are the probabilities of encountering a shiny:

  • 1/4096: Basic probability
  • 1/2048: Once you KO between 30 and 59 Pokémon in the spawn
  • 1/1365: Once you KO 60+ Pokémon in the spawn

Note that you can go down to 1/512 with the Chroma charm (obtained once the Pokédex is completed) and the shiny sandwich Lv.3, but let's stay on our bases at 1/1365.

Once you have knocked down more than 60+ Pokémon in a Massive Appearance, you will picnic in a loop in order to reset the area until the shiny appears. Quite simply ! Appearing on average after about twenty resets , it is the simplest and fastest technique to obtain shiny.

To your binoculars!

For all the other pokemon not appearing in AM, the solution remains the same as usual: be patient and equip yourself with your best glasses, because you will have to travel the open world and observe carefully, due to the absence of notifications making a lot of players cringe.

Happy hunting everyone!
