What is a Poffin in Pokémon GO, and how do you get one?

The Poffin is a brand new item in Pokémon GO, available in the Shop. But what is it for? We explain how it works and how to get one in this guide.

Known since the Diamond and Pearl version, Poffins are small cakes made from berries. At the time, they were used to enhance certain characteristics of the Pokémon who ate them. In Pokémon GO, the Poffin has a completely different use. Poffins have been available in the game since the December 18, 2019 update. This update brings a new feature: Buddy Adventure.

How to get a Poffin

To obtain a Poffin, you must buy it in the Game Shop. It costs 100 Coins.

This is the only way to get it today, but special quests may be offered in the near future to receive it as rewards.

What's the Poffin for?

By giving a Pokémon a Poffin, the Pokémon will stay by your side on the Map longer (6 hours).

By giving a Pokémon berries, the Pokémon will only stay for 3 hours. This makes the Poffin more effective.

Buddy Adventure is a a major new feature available in Pokémon GO! You're now able to have fun with your favourite Buddy Pokémon, including quests to complete, happiness levels to raise, and above all, the possibility to take your Buddy everywhere!
