At the beginning of your Temtem adventure, you'll have to choose a starter from among three creatures. They are not Water, Fire and Grass types, but rather Crystal, Melee and Mental types.

Crystal Starter

This starter is available in the wild so you'll able to find it later.

Crystle

Very strong in Defense

Crystal Type

Amphibian: its Speed increases a lot if it is hit by a Water attack.
Rested: Its Attack and Special Attack increase by 25% for the first two turns.

Sherald

Crystal Type

Evolution of Crystle : you need to win 30 levels.

Melee Starter

Smazee

Very fast and strong on Attack.

Melee Type

Fever Rush: His Attack increases greatly if affected by a Status.
Friendship: He is immune to zone attacks from his allies.

Baboong

Melee Type

Evolution of Smazee : you need to win 30 levels.

Mental Starter

Houchic

Mental Type

Mental Alliance: His Special Attack increases by 15% when the other ally in the field is Mental.
Soft Touch: It will not wake up sleeping Tempers by attacking them.

Tental

Mental Type

Evolution of Houchic : you need to win 30 levels.

Which starter is the best?

If you want a good starter to begin the adventure, I advise you to take Smazee because it will be very effective against Earth and Crystal type Temtem, the ones we meet on the third island. Crystle is strong but is available in the wild so there is no point in choosing it.
Houchic will prove to be a very good fighter on the fourth island as he is powerful against the Neutral and Melee types.
In conclusion, Smazee seems to be the best starter to choose in Early Access.
