Resident Evil 3: Remake — How to face and dodge the Nemesis

Capcom have been announcing it for several months now, the new Nemesis is a 2.0 version. Smarter and more agile, it will give you much more trouble than the Tyrant of Resident Evil 2: Remake.

The Nemesis will have a much more important place than Mr X in Resident Evil 3.

Your best and sworn enemy will appear on many more occasions and he won't only follow you.

His speed will be much higher than yours — even while sprinting, he will be able to pass in front of you — and obviously his blows will be devastating.

In addition to that, at key moments, he will have a whole arsenal to destroy you. No worries, this guide will show you that a whole bunch of means are at your disposal to slow him down.

Keep in mind that fighting against him requires different techniques.

The impressive new version of the Nemesis.

The elements of the decor

To get rid of this nightmarish colossus, the streets of Raccoon City conceal some important allies. Nothing deadly for the Nemesis, but the elements of the decor can clearly save your life and give you a few seconds of respite that will be more than precious. They will also save your most precious ammunition like grenades or grenade launcher ammunition.

The red barrels, as you would expect, explode after a single pistol shot — no need to spoil other ammunition. We recommend using the basic dodge to attract the biological weapon right next to the barrels.

The electric generators, easily spotted by the flashes that emanate from them, are also triggered after a single pistol bullet. These real Nemesis nets are most certainly your best friends. In the same way as the barrels, by attracting it near them, it will be possible to immobilize it for a few short but precious seconds.

Some uses of the elements of the decoration.

Fleeing the Nemesis

In addition to being faster and more agile than you or a powerful monster, the Nemesis can use tentacles to catch you in the distance and bring you directly to its feet. To top it off, he can sometimes use firearms, such as a flame thrower.

The perfect dodge

Most of the time he will chase you with your bare hands and punch you with salvos. When the Nemesis punches successively horizontally, perfect dodging will prove to be the best option, giving you time to run away while it completes its series of punches.

Normal dodging

There will come a time when the Nemesis will bring its two fists together to place them above its head and give a devastating vertical blow. When you see him preparing this move, don't wait for a possible perfect dodge: press R1 and flee as quickly as possible.

The tentacles are unfortunately one of its most difficult attacks to avoid. First, your enemy will use them when you turn your back on it, so it will be impossible to predict their arrival. Secondly, these are a kind of mug and not a normal hit. Generally, the Nemesis will be frozen and shout "STAAAARS", which will give you a few seconds to escape.

The last piece of advice we can give will be used every time the Nemesis pursues you. It is very common that the streets are filled with zombies. In this case, don't use your ammunition unnecessarily, try to keep calm and make perfect dodges. Indeed, the Nemesis will hit the zombies, so try to make a perfect dodge on his fists and it will clear the way for you.

Finally, don't forget that it will do everything to block your path, i.e. he will not necessarily appear in the same places depending on your games. Its spawning points are not 100% scripted and if you decide to take an alley rather than a ladder, it won't hesitate to spawn from another place.
