Valheim Guide: How to build the Windmill

You need Barley Flour to craft items in Valheim, and for that you need a Windmill. Here’s what you need to do to unlock and build the Windmill in Valheim

After defeating Moder and crafting the Artisan Table in Valheim, you’ll be able to build a Windmill – allowing you to craft Barley Flour which is used in a few different recipes.

Craft the Windmill

The Windmill needs to be placed in dirt, and close to the Artisan Table – though that isn’t needed for it to function after it’s been built.

20 x Stone
30 x Wood
30 x Iron Nails

Remember to allow yourself access to both entrances on the Windmill.

How the Windmill Works

The amount of Barley Flour processed by the Windmill depends on how windy it is – so during storms the output will be far higher. We’d recommend placing several Windmills to keep your output of flour steady.
