Patch 3.0 of Monster Hunter Rise has introduced a new ending to the story. It's not really the last fight of the game, nor the most difficult, but it will conclude the Apex story.

This ending probably won't satisfy everyone, and it's far from answering all the questions, but it comes with a spectacular fight. You can check out our first attempt (and first kill) of the boss in the video below.

While it's far from perfect, it does show the dangers and traps that await you. It must be said that this is a fight in which death can happen very quickly.

The end of the game is included if you don't have the desire or the time to go kill it yourself. We have refined our approach in the following fights, and you'll find different tips and tricks that will help you to overcome it much more easily.

Unlock the true final boss

First of all, you need to have the qualifications to gain access to the urgent quest. You must have defeated the Thunder Serpent Narwa at rank 7, then you must increase your hunter rank to 50.

This means that you will have to beat the Chameleos, the Kushala Daora, and the Teostra in succession. You can quickly increase your hunter rank by achieving a score of S+ in Apex 7 Red Star mode in multiplayer. It's relatively quick and easy this way.

Stage 1: Wind Serpent Ibushi

The battle begins on the normal Coral Palace map, but without the Dragonator and Splitting Wyvern, and the wildlife is limited. The fight is similar to the one in Apex mode, with a few extra attacks. Ibushi borrows some of Narwa's techniques and habits here: he will lift a platform high up that you can use to attack his head. He will sometimes prepare a super attack in the center of the area. There, you can climb on one of the surrounding platforms to shoot him. You can try to destroy the rocks before he throws them at you, or you can aim directly at Ibushi hoping to make him fall to the ground.

The important thing to remember about this phase is that updrafts are your buddies. They allow you to get up to high platforms easily and quickly. It is better to use them than to use the Wirebugs. Once you've been propelled upwards by the current, press "B" as you would after Wirebug propulsion to make an aerial leap in the desired direction, so you can exit and land on a platform. Remember this trick well, it will be very useful during the following phases of the fight.

Phase 2: Royal dinner

When you have inflicted enough damage to the Ibushi, he will fall to the ground and reform the hole that the Narwa had probably plugged with her powers to protect herself. This time you will follow him into the depths of the palace.

Get on one of the rotating gun platforms and shoot the Narwa. Ignore the Ibushi, its queen will devour it within seconds, no matter what you do. She will then transform and gain the powers of the Ibushi. It is now the time to face Narwa, the Allmother.

You can also take advantage of the animation, which lasts a few seconds, to heal yourself, sharpen your weapon and, above all, collect the local fauna. Beetles are useful, but what really interests us are the Lanterinsects stuck to the walls of the cave, and especially the big brown turtle on the ground, named Blastoad.

This is a very rare creature in the game that protects you from fainting. It will also reappear regularly during the fight, so don't forget to pick it up each time.

Phase 3: Narwa the Allmother

The fight will mix the abilities of Ibushi and Narwa. Try to keep your life level high, death can come very quickly with her deadly combos. Here's how to dodge some of these new attacks:

  • When Narwa will release three blue lights on the ground that look like 3 Ibushi attacks, 3 lines of thunder will then strike between them, typically in areas where you would tend to run to avoid them. You have to either run along the blue lines or fall back into them as soon as they activate.
  • When two rocks are spaced far apart and come out of the ground, Narwa can unleash two types of attacks. The first is a huge blast that will sweep the area, the best way to dodge it is to get behind one of the rocks, but you have to be quick. The second possibility is the emission of its big golden rings. You have to use the Wirebug to jump above the one at ground level, ideally to land on the rock that serves as a good base to attack or to launch an air attack. You can also use the air currents to jump above.
  • When Narwa is positioned vertically, with its mouth facing the ground, it will drop new rings to the ground, successively. There are several ways to dodge them. The easiest is to move away as fast as possible, if possible with the Wirebug. If you drag, the outer ring will hit you as it comes down. The slightly more complex alternative is to get under the intermediate rings. As soon as the ball and the middle ring have fallen, use the Wirebug to go back to the center of the field.

The most fearsome attack of Narwa will turn your beloved dragonator against you. The dragonator's spikes will cluster in the center of the area around her, then spin around the area as they approach the edges. Wait until the thunder ball in the center disappears and a dragonator passes by, then use the Wirebug to fly into the middle of the field, into the yellow area on the ground. It does not inflict any damage.

You have a few seconds to attack quietly without any risk. When Narwa flies away, stone platforms rise up and air currents appear. Use an airstream and a jump to get on a platform, then use the siege weapon on it to strafe Narwa while she unleashes her ultimate explosive attack, borrowed directly from Safi'jiiva. If you're not on a platform, there's a good chance it will kill you.

Phase 4: Magnamalus

When you have inflicted enough damage on Narwa, a message will tell you that Magnamalo has appeared. Sometimes it can also be an ancient dragon-like Teostra, but it doesn't matter much. A few seconds later, he will jump into the area and start fighting Narwa. This will give you a few seconds to heal yourself or sharpen your weapon since Narwa will also focus on him.

The result will still be the same: you can use the wyvern ride on the Magnamalo and use him to attack Narwa. Note that it is useless to finish the ride with a charge, it is impossible to ride this boss. It is, therefore, better to multiply heavy attacks and finish with a final combo as late as possible.

When your ride is over, your mount will quickly leave the area, there is nothing you can do about it. You'll have to finish the fight alone. Then, the music theme will change.

Phase 5: The final

The Narwa will chain attacks even faster, especially her most devastating techniques listed above. The ideal targets on Narwa are always its head and belly pocket. When you inflict enough damage on her, she will fall on her back and two rocks will come out of the ground nearby to help you attack her cleanly.

Remember to keep your life high and pick up a new Blastoad if needed. Don't hesitate to teleport out of the area to sharpen in peace or heal yourself if the situation gets too tense. It's really easy to die 3 times in this fight, especially while in a group.
