Once you start gathering and crafting in Final Fantasy XIV you will quickly realise how important equipment optimisation is. Just like in PVE, you will need to meld some materia to your equipment to make the most of it.
While materia can be quite expensive there is a way of getting those that some people tend to forget before rushing to the market board. In fact, players are able to exchange their gatherer and crafter scrips to any Scrip Exchange NPC for materia from level IV to VIII.
There are many ways of getting scrips easily -- like we explain here -- making it quite simple to even overmeld your late-game gear without using any Gil, if you get your own materials.
Once you have your scrips, here is a list of which materia can be obtained via scrips:
Yellow Gathering Scrips can be exchanged for:
- Gatherer’s Guerdon Materia IV — Gathering +6
- Gatherer’s Guerdon Materia V — Gathering +10
- Gatherer’s Guerdon Materia VI — Gathering +15
- Gatherer’s Guerdon Materia VII — Gathering +12
- Gatherer’s Guile Materia IV — Perception +6
- Gatherer’s Guile Materia V — Perception +10
- Gatherer’s Guile Materia VI — Perception +15
- Gatherer’s Guile Materia VII — Perception +12
